Christian Camping in Las Vegas
We didn't really expect to visit Las Vegas on our trip, but we were so excited to be welcomed at Potosi Pines. Potosi is a United Methodist camp just outside of the city near Red Rock Canyon National Park. The mountain views are truly breathtaking. You can spend an early morning out on the deck of the dining hall and experience a perfect moment of serenity and prayer. The staff and supporters of Potosi are kind of like a very extended family, with traditions, stories, and constant care for the place they call home. We loved meeting Rocky the camp cat, too. We feel that Potosi is serving a unique purpose by providing quiet, natural space to the Las Vegas community. This camp doesn't try to have the latest and greatest or to compromise the simple reason they exist - to welcome others, love them well, and share the hope of Jesus with them.

I often look to the story of Moses in those times of fear. When God asked him to go to Pharaoh, Moses didn’t just feel unqualified, he was by most standards actually not the best man for the job. He was probably going to look stupid. He would probably not be able to do it alone. There was a really good chance that he would mess it up big time. People people probably thought Moses was a little crazy. Moses had ONE MILLION excuses. But, in the end, God worked through him. (There was some other complicated stuff in the middle there, but you get the idea.)
